The all-new Vision Marine Phantom runabout
Canadian company Vision Marine Technologies has unveiled the first-ever 100% recyclable boat to market. The new Phantom will be built in partnership with Nautical Ventures Group, who will distribute the boat, with exclusive dealer rights in Florida and a non-exclusive distributor agreement for the rest of the United States.
Nautical Ventures has currently signed on to purchase a minimum of 50 Phantoms in the first year.
According to the company press release, the order will have a retail value of $1.5 million.
“We have been active marketing partners with Vision Marine since 2018, having carried its electric boat line,” says Roger Moore, CEO of Nautical Ventures Group. “Alex Mongeon and his team are always on the cutting edge of innovation, and we embrace this new partnership going forward.”
She will carry an LOA of 16’6″ with a 6’9″ beam.
The Phantom model will be built using rotomoulded plastic, which is a similar production method used for smaller plastic watercraft like kayaks, paddleboards, and some canoes. The plastic itself will come from recycled sources, and the hull is capable of holding up to 10 passengers. The boat is certified in accordance with the USCG, CCG, and C.E., and is marketed as ‘unsinkable’ and self-bailing. It can be configured with up to a 50 hp outboard engine. Due to the use of a plastic alloy in the rotomoulding process, the hull will be offered in five unique colours including blue, red, black, orange, and white.
The hull design is also built to be adaptable for electric propulsion and is easily trailerable. According to Vision Marine, the Phantom is 30% lighter than a fibreglass counterpart of the same size.
The likely configuration for electric power utilize Vision Marine’s existing E-Motion powertrain, which has been gaining significant traction as electric power begins to fill the market. Their E-Motion technology was recently used to set a new electric speed record of 109 mph in August. As well, Groupe Beneteau, who own major brands like Jeanneau, Prestige Yachts, Four Winns, and Wellcraft, among others, recently announced a partnership with Vision Marine to incorporate their E-Motion drivetrains and outboards into their portfolio.
Pricepoints for the new Phantom start at $19,995 USD for the boat without propulsion, $29,995 USD with the E-Propulsion system, and $35,995 USD for the E-Propulsion system with Extra Range.
